Abstract
This project explores personified representations of death throughout history, beginning in the late 13th century and leading into the contemporary moment. It deals with literature as well as the arts. Works discussed are the dance of death movement, the morality play Everyman, Dickinson's "Because I Could Not Stop for Death," Markus Zusak's The Book Thief, and three of street artist, Banksy's, works.
