Abstract
Logline: An idealistic rookie is paired with a cynical veteran to enter the corrupt world of the secret police in a dystopian city, where there is a plot within to take down the government. In an alternate universe Dystopian Cold War, Our protagonist is a naive rookie Government Worker (Secret police officer) who works in a major city to take down suspected spies and threats to the government. Having to work with a cynical partner, she quickly learns that the job is not as it seems and she either has to adapt or get swallowed whole by it. This gets compounded when a former government worker makes a major terrorist threat against the government. And no one seems to want to help her get to the bottom of it. In this alternate universe where there's only two continents (East & West) a cold war that has lasted for almost 100 years. With increased political tension and endless proxy wars happening in the territories in between the continents known as the Middle Islands. Government workers are created to be a secret task force to deal with government interests happening within the Western continent and its cities. This world values money, it's greedy, it's gross, and it's cynical. It also values power and respect if you have people to use. It's a world of criminals and some of the criminals are just allowed to be around because the government says it's good for the economy. Some of the biggest criminals work for the government. The world is violent, the world is unreal and it's something that the protagonist is not ready for. There's a level of violence that has to be expected to survive. The protagonist is an outsider to this world and they have to quickly learn what it's all about. The morally gray characters and situations of The Shield meet the spy espionage plot of Slow Horses, with the world-building and dystopian outlook of Akira and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. How far are you willing to go to do your job and serve your country? Do you still believe you're doing the right thing? Does good and bad even exist anymore?
