dc.description.abstract | Research indicates that many African Americans rely on spirituality more than psychotherapy to deal with traumatic life experiences such as bereavement. This review explores the psychotherapeutic benefits of spirituality as a coping resource in the African American community. Justification for the use of spiritual-psychotherapy as a treatment methodology for bereaved African American college students is presented. Finally, ethical considerations for using spirituality when counseling with bereaved African American college students are posed. | |
