dc.description.abstract | This paper is an historical look at the unification of the National Association of Music Therapy (NAMT) and the American Association for Music Therapists (AAMT) to form the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA). Historical documents and existing literature were examined to set the context for the event, including the histories of both previous associations. Three individuals who played significant roles in the process of unification were interviewed about the process of unification as well as its comparison to present day decisions. Their perspectives and experiences are presented in this paper. | en_US |
