dc.description.abstract | The necessity for reform in the bilingual education system within the United States has been illuminated by the metamorphosis of today’s interconnected culture. Bilingual education needs to be strengthened to achieve optimal success for the next generation of citizens. Changes in the length of time a language is studied, as well as the structure of the bilingual program would create enormous benefits in the comprehension of foreign language skills. Furthermore, if this education began at the elementary level, a foreign language could be learned with greater success and considerable ease. The purpose of this investigation is to demonstrate the advantages that bilingual education creates when started among children at the earliest age possible. Foreign language acquisition among elementary level students leads to greater achievement in fluency as well as increased improvements in other areas of cognitive development (Stewart). | |
