The primary objective of this research was to provide information on the relative toxicity of diesel oil (No. 2 fuel oil) and the microbial degradation products of this fuel on marine phytoplankton. These organisms comprise an essential element of the marine food web. An assessment o f the effects of oil pollution on the growth and photosynthesis of marine phytoplankton was determined in the laboratory.Collections
