The purpose of this study was to investigate how social skills contribute to successful cooperative learning within the classroom. I looked at how incorporating and teaching social skills in classroom lessons affects student's interaction and behaviors while working in cooperative groups. I looked at student perceptions of social interaction within cooperative group work, if students apply the learned social skills within cooperative groups and if the teaching of the social skills helped increase social interaction within cooperative learning groups.
