Mushroom Shed, is a ten year community based durational project space for cultivating edible and medicinal mushrooms. Mushroom Shed is an experimental laboratory for educational workshops, a place to meet up for discussions about nutrition and self care, and a lab where visitors can explore art and the environment. To me as a researcher, Mushroom Shed is a collaborative community artwork. In this essay, I will examine the mushroom life cycle as a metaphorical model for this type of work. Conditions, substrate, spores, hyphae, mycelium, and fruit body will be the component parts for understanding this practical framework.The following license files are associated with this item:
