The purpose of the study was to evaluate the benefits of inquiry based hands-on education, engage students in their own learning, and increase retention of knowledge. Research supports the connection between this process and the learning in a science curriculum. Four topics to be discussed in the following chapter are hands-on learning and inquiry-based instruction, hands-on learning beyond the classroom, at-risk learners and inquiry-based education, and challenges of teaching inquiry-based education.
