dc.description.abstractThis curriculum project was created by a teacher for teachers, to present an example of how to use project based learning in a 7th grade mathematics curriculum while meeting the New York State Common Core Standards. More specifically, the project asks students to create a building plan that would fill a need in their community and present this plan to an interested group. The project focuses on a number of mathematical concepts including area, volume, ratios, and proportions.
