dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this research was to determine which computerized devices are most appropriate when administering a high-stakes computer-based assessments to students. Participants in the study included twenty-two seventh grade students. The study was designed to have students complete a New York State Grade 7 English Language Arts Computer-Based Assessment using one of three electronic devices. The researcher collected data in the form of anecdotal notes, student questionnaires, and student interviews. The results of the study concluded that students were uncomfortable testing on electronic devices however, students preferred larger screens and the ability to use handheld manipulatives such as a mouse or stylus to navigate a screen rather than a touch pad or touch screen.
