The purpose of this curriculum project is to design resources for a “Flipped Classroom” for four units of American history covering the Civil War through World War I in the eighth grade New York State social studies curriculum. The literature surrounding the important topic of technology integration in classroom illustrates the need for more engaging, interactive lessons for students today. Using the theoretical framework of Understanding by Design (UBD) developed by McTighe and Wiggins, technology will be implemented in accordance with the New York State social studies curriculum while using the flipped classroom technology.en_US
