dc.description.abstractResearch indicates that in today’s society media has a powerful effect on the body image of female athletes. The purpose of this synthesis was to review the literature on the effect of media coverage of female athletes and the impact on how these athletes view their body. Results indicate that there is an overall detrimental relationship between the influences of media and the way female athletes view their bodies.
