dc.descriptionIn efforts to improve delivery of information literacy concepts to first year students librarians, faculty, and staff have worked together to align the ACRL Framework with two first year courses’ learning outcomes. The first course, Advanced Planning Seminar (a first year orientation course) uses peer mentors to teach basic “research as inquiry” to students as they learn about the library and its resources. The second course, English112 (Brockport’s equivalent of English101), has three modules that incorporate evaluation of resources using the TRAP method (timeliness, relevance, authority, and purpose). Both courses are assessed for the college’s general education outcomes. This session will describe how librarian worked with faculty and staff to integrate into the courses. It will be useful for those who are preparing students for college-level work. The assignments, assessment rubrics, and TRAP module will be shared with workshop attendees and online.
