The article points out that physical education teachers need to consider the whole person to ensure developmental appropriateness and student success. Instructional approaches provide one avenue to address motor, cognitive and affective domains. Effective teachers use a variety of instructional approaches to enhance the teaching-learning environment in physical education. Instructional approaches should be selected deliberately with regard to content and the developmental characteristics of students.
