What is a holiday? Why is one holiday more important than another? This class examines the history of many American holidays. We will dive into the origins of where these holidays come from. We will explore how these holidays expanded to what they are today. Some holidays have variations in them. For example, Columbus Day and Indigenous People’s Day. Then there are holidays celebrated around the same time of year but have no direct connection to each other. Students will be able to differentiate between the two.
