The topic being researched is the association between social media use and poor mental health. Social media is a huge part in everyone’s lives and is all around us. Because of the prevalence of social media in our lives, it is certainly affecting us whether the effect is positive or negative. It can have a negative effect on mental health, specifically increasing depression. Depression is a mental health disorder I feel is typically closely related to social media use because of feeling left out of fun plans, feelings of loneliness because less in-person social interaction, wanting to look like someone else online, not being able to escape bullies or harassment even when at home, etc. My study seeks to find a correlation between social media use and experiencing poor mental health.en_US
