Feria Mundial: Exploration of Dominican Futurism

Abstract

This thesis paper is an exploration of my thesis show Feria Mundial: Exploration of Dominican Futurism. I based my paper and my senior sculpture show on the answering the question of What would the Dominican Republic look like if it had a World's Fair? Within the paper, I go through the process of researching, process of materials, making of the work, and conceptual layout. Through the works I discuss what progress means, and the way progress can change culture and environment in interesting ways both beneficial and negatively. With the work I go through how different forms and types of research helped the ideas for the show develop even if they weren't traditional research avenues. Throughout the paper and the show I try and teeter the line of what benefits advancement can have but the underlying problems that many time are neglected.
