In this paper, I examined the racial representation present in poems written by Federico Garcia Lorca, and the creative works of Sara Gómez. The poems written by Lorca that I focused on were “Son de negros en Cuba, and “El rey de Harlem. The works examined by Gómez were a documentary called “Ire a Santiago, and the film De cierta manera. These individuals were extremely influential in their cinematic and literary work, specifically because of the themes they chose to highlight. These pieces specifically focus on the observed lives of black people in society, and the treatment that they were subjected to in the early to mid 1900’s.Collections
