dc.description.abstractThe social-emotional well-being of English Language Learners (ELLs) is a crucial matter for bilingual students because they face unique problems in educational environments. Thus, this capstone project addresses the question: How can elementary school teachers promote the positive social-emotional well-being of ELLs? There are at least three major challenges that can be noted through the context of culturally responsive practices: First, the impact of external stressors from socioeconomic issues. Second, the inadequacy of school systems in addressing the needs of bilingual students. Third, inadequate teacher preparedness in meeting the social- emotional needs of ELLs. This capstone includes two professional development (PD) sessions. Educators will learn techniques to build a nurturing, and inclusive environment. The PD aims to increasing awareness of ELL needs and providing effective social-emotional learning practices. The anticipated outcomes include increasing teacher confidence and improving student well-being, drawing attention to the fact that when it comes to academic success, addressing the social-emotional needs of ELLs is important.en_US
