dc.description.abstract | As the humanitarian and economic crisis in their home country worsens, Venezuelans are coming to the US in numbers never seen before. Though there are larger communities in other states like Florida and Texas that have been established for decades, the Venezuelan diaspora in the US hasn't had a great level of visibility; that is, until now. In this project, I tell the stories of members of the Venezuelan community in New York City--which is quickly becoming one of the largest Venezuelan communities in the country--and highlight the struggles and accomplishments that come with the process of adapting to a new culture. | |
