The purpose of this study is to critically examine the portrayal of serial killers in true crime podcasts, focusing on the phenomenon of media sensationalism and its ethical implications. By analyzing the narratives constructed by podcasters, this study aims to shed light on how these platforms contribute to the mythos surrounding serial killers and influence public perception and understanding. This research seeks to explore the original angle of media sensationalism within the true crime podcast genre, creating a deeper understanding of its effects on society's perception of serial killers. Through this thesis, the research brings up the question what are the ethical implications of the narratives constructed by true crime podcasts in their portrayal of serial killers?
