In this paper, my research explores the themes of death in media, how Americans cope with the passing of loved ones, and how storytelling is used to express difficult-to-explain themes. Through the use of music, death can be found within. My project is a board game that revolves around the themes of dying and the concept of purgatory. The game features the character of death in the form of cards that players can select while they play. These cards will only benefit the players as they navigate through an abandoned town. It provides a bittersweet perspective on this topic in the form of a tile-based game where the players build the town they explore. While the characters are ghosts, it is not explicitly said that they are dead while playing.Accessibility Statement
