Animal Endangerment and Solutions for Survival: A Case Study on Gray Wolves in the United States

Abstract

The topic of this case study is the endangered Gray Wolf (Canis Lupus) population in the United States, and the positive support given by the laws, acts, regulations, governmental, congressional, state, and conservation organizations. I decided to write a paper on this topic because it has not been publicized enough and endangered species need more support. While using peer-reviewed, journalistic, and governmental sources, I aim to answer the following question. What positive impacts do acts, laws, regulations, research, and conservation have on the Gray Wolf population, and what are the next steps to ensure their survival? The method I used was analyzing secondary peer-reviewed sources that I gathered from the SUNY Purchase College Library database and other sources from the web. I hypothesized that the endangered Gray Wolf population has a lot of positive support from acts, laws, regulations, research, and conservation, but that there are dilemmas that have caused their support to diminish. While gathering my research, I found my hypothesis to be true. There are many issues regarding the human-wolf connections, the delisting and relisting of the species with the Endangered Species Act (ESA), and the available land for reintroduction or introduction. Now that I know of these issues and the positive impacts that have and are being made for the survival of the Gray Wolf species, the best outcome would be continuing to monitor their ecological, and governmental aspects.
