This is an abstract about the early stages of the first major conflict in the Cold War and the events that led up to the Korean War, such as the Soviet Union trying to expand communism around the world, and one of its targets was Korea, which resulted in the United States getting involved and supporting the South Korean whereas the Soviets supported the North Koreans. This project dives into why the Korean War should not be forgotten not only in United States and Korean history, but in Cold War history. The project talks about the forgotten veterans and survivors of the war, what the refugees went through during and after the war, and the number of casualties of the war's murderous history. This also talks about the Truman-MacArthur controversy and what went behind General Douglas MacArthur's firing, along with Truman's policy and why politicians called it "police action," the risk that the United States took going into Korea to fight the communists, including with China getting involved, what American society looked like during the Korean War, what the economies for both the United States and Korea looked like, and the road to peace on ending the tensions on both sides after 74 years.Accessibility Statement
