An examination of the influence one's perception has on how women are represented in the film and music industry. In order to understand why certain groups are underrepresented and marginalized in pop culture, there needs to be an examination of how biases develop and their long term influence on the culture. By juxtaposing this with current examples of the effects of underlying prejudice, a line between the way that women are perceived and the opportunities they receive can be drawn. In order to combat these inherent biases and limited opportunities, there must first be an understanding as to how these biases came to be.Accessibility Statement
