LGBTQ+ individuals exist loudly and proudly around us in real life. In television, there is a severe lack of representation that reflects the amount of individuals. Scripted television shows have negative, positive, and sometimes both kinds of LGBTQ+ representation. A survey was performed to collect responses and opinions from LGBTQ+ and cisgender heterosexual individuals alike in response to queer representation in television, and how it affects them. There is a focus on responses from LGBTQ+ individuals who have taken the survey. This paper discusses statistics, research, current events, opinions, and the author's personal experiences with the goal of encouraging readers to be more receptive to the media they consume.Accessibility Statement
