Eighteen-year-old Audra McKane wants nothing more than to start a new life for herself. Growing up with a narcissistic father who only cares about their family business, and an absent alcoholic mother has led to her being the leader of the house. After devoting the last several years to being a caretaker for her three younger siblings; Preston, Noelle, and Katrina, one night she packs a bag and never looks back... or does she?... Ten years later, a now 28-year-old Audra has created an entirely new life for herself by moving to NYC, becoming a wellness influencer, and being the spokesperson for an uprising vaginal probiotic, called "Pish Probiotics." Pish faces extreme backlash saying that it makes vaginal odor worse. Audra decides to publicly defend the probiotics in a tweet stating that her product is not the reason people's vaginas smell like a "decaying trout." Audra encounters "cancellation," which results in high tensions with her boss, Anne Bordeaux. This ultimately leads to Anne firing Audra from Pish. While packing up her office, Audra receives an unexpected phone call from her estranged brother Preston. Preston explains that their grandfather, Charles, has passed away. He tells her the funeral information, stating that it is up to her if she wants to attend. When Audra arrives at the funeral home, she is reunited with Preston, followed by Noelle and Kit (formerly Katrina) who were unaware that she would show up. Her father, Andrew, gets taken away in handcuffs during the funeral for an unknown reason causing eyebrows to rise. After the funeral, Audra is face to face with her childhood home which resurfaces memories she has buried deep down. The next morning Andrew, who is now out of custody, reveals that his father, Charles has been found guilty of money laundering and drug trafficking after his death. Andrew divulges that he has to go to the Cayman Islands for two weeks to deal with legal affairs since the money was held there in a bank account. Since Audra's new career is falling apart, he leaves her in charge of their family business, "Ring Around," a bathroom utilities company. When her stay becomes longer than expected, Audra is forced to confront everything and everyone she tried to run away from. This series covers topics such as childhood trauma, sexuality, addiction, gender identity, and so on. Preston is in a 4 year relationship with a girl, but cheating on her with one of Andrew's employees, Collin. Noelle struggles with alcohol and drug addiction that stemmed from Audra's disappearance. Kit faces the challenges of identity as a gender non-conforming person. Each sibling deals with their own set of issues throughout the series to show how family dynamics and trauma affect people differently.Collections
