Abstract
"Fangirl Isn't a Dirty Word" explores the devotion and community behind the stigma of the word "fangirl," why young girls' interests aren't taken seriously, and the way fangirls are rapidly changing the entertainment industry and the world. By interviewing fangirls across the country, across fandoms, and across gender expressions, it becomes clearer and clearer how strong and devoted fangirls are.
