dc.description.abstract | Body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) is described as the preoccupation with one's looks to the point of severe impairment and poor quality of life. Nearly 2% of the population is affected by BDD with a purported equal number of men and women falling into some subcategory of the disorder. BDD contains both a delusional and non-delusional variant as well as comorbidity several other disorders. This paper outlines whether CBT is an effective and/or long term method of treatment along with the benefits and drawbacks. | |
