Abstract
A case study on playwright turned film director Martin McDonagh, focusing on his adaptation and development through his career and change in medium. The paper argues that McDonagh's use of violence has evolved both from the different limitations and capabilities of the two forms and his maturity as an artist. Finding, through analyzation of McDonagh's use of violence a commentary on the violent nature of humanity, Hollywood films, and ultimately himself.
