Both the rise and the fall of the Soviet Union can be attributed to many different factors and circumstances that led a once mighty superpower to its height and eventually its downfall. This essay explores those different circumstances and gives explanation to both the rise and fall of the Soviet union as well as the Communist regime that ruled for most of the 20th Century. Those tasked with leading this once great nation to its height as well as its eventual downfall, along with those who helped them achieve their goals are also highlighted.
