    Abstract
VUOTI  My art experience and practice open me up to a new world, a world where I get to question my sociocultural background. Not that I am not proud of heritage, but there are elements of my cultural background and family that I feel require revision, in order to cultivate an impartial social order, where everyone is able to express themselves freely. These aspects include patriarchal sociology that undermines the position of women in society while promoting class politics, which are all elements that close the opportunity to realize ultimate equality in Italian society and my family. For this reason, my art performance focuses on the defiance of these social structures in favor of a framework that allows greater freedom. This new social framework also allows behavioral expression, unlike the previous system where women experience responsibility and behavior confinement.  To realize this objective, I construct my performances in such a way that the audience can resonate with my experience, as well as identify the change that I am willing to make in order to break from unfair social and family practices. Each of the activities signifies defiance and captures what I deem to be optimal behavior for women. For instance, I put excessive food in my mouth, while attempting to talk at the same time. This performance captures the overbearing nature of capitalism, an aspect that many members of society do not realize. I company this with an act of defiance, evident in the decision to conduct the activity before my father and in my grandfather's house, who are symbols of the capitalistic and patriarchal society that I analyze. Therefore, I would like to think that my research paper unleashes a new me, with a personality characterized by greater freedom and willingness to challenge long-established societal norms.
