Research Question - How Have Government Regulations in the United States Affected the Bitcoin Market? Description: This research project will focus on the regulations put in place by the United States government. It begins with a historical overview of Bitcoin and blockchain technology as well as an explanation of its fundamental operations in today's economy. The majority of the thesis will then focus on Federal and New York State regulations applied to Bitcoin. The last phase of this discussion will primarily be analytical, with the closing chapter focusing on the political nature of Bitcoin and the competing regulatory frameworks here in the United States as well as my personal opinion in regards to regulation; that Bitcoin should have straightforward tax guidelines and minimal limitations to those entering the market. Ideally this paper will explain the basics of what Bitcoin is and give the reader a new perspective on the potential of this new asset class.Accessibility Statement
