    Abstract
We should ask ourselves, why are emotions important when we communicate? Emotional awareness in communication is often misunderstood. Feelings play a very important role in communication. You will notice the emotions of other people, and how the way they are feeling influences the way they communicate. Having confidence is a trait that we need to successfully deliver authentic emotions to one another. 194 participants in a study were randomly assigned to a high or low specific self-esteem condition, a high or low general self-esteem condition, and a public or private social influence condition group. Body language is an important factor when expressing emotion. A study was attempted to discover the advantages and disadvantages of non-verbal communication, more so of body language, in intercultural settings. Men and women hold similar gender stereotypes about emotionality. Emotionality is typically associated with women; that is, people believe that women are more emotional than men. Not all emotions are invariably associated with the feminine gender-role stereotype; instead stereotypes about individual emotions are gender specific. The next steps that should be taken for this research is observing behaviors of students who have difficulty expressing true emotion. There's always a background story as to why students grow up and struggle with this. Other limitations in some of the existing research are that it often fails to take account of participants' goals and strategies.
