Acculturative stress has been found to cause numerous psychological effects on Latino immigrants in the United States. This study aimed to examine the psychological effects that Latino immigrants in the United States face while adapting, as well as determine the the social factors/stressors that have had had the greatest impact on their emotional well-being and incorporation into the United States. In this study, I conducted 10 in-depth interviews with documented, Latino immigrants living in Westchester, NY. The responses revealed that family and social support, as well as family separation have had the greatest impact on their emotional well-being. Despite the amount of years that they have been living in the United States, negative psychological effects relating to family separation were found to be continuous in their lives.
