I hope to explore the idea that students of color have significant challenges from other students while in art school. This should open the eyes of many and I hope it helps reform and shape a better environment and new curriculum for art students. With the newfound awareness on this topic, I plan to include an art exhibit showcasing students of color within our school who feel they must be heard on the hushed topic of race, gender, and sexualitiy pertaining them within the walls of an art school. My role is to curate a well thought out exhibition based on my research topic “What holds students of color in Art Institutes back from success?”. This project could potentially help to mold curriculum by creating opportunities for these artist, new friendships, partnerships, and a safe space for said students to enjoy and use to their advantage while continuing their education here at Purchase.Accessibility Statement
