As of past years, I’ve been utterly envious of those gifted with the ability to speak more than one language. As I’ve accumulated work experience from several part-time positions one after the other, it has become ever apparent to me how important it is to acquire a second language. More specifically, Spanish, the second most common language in the Americas, and possibly the world. The relevancy of Spanish is increasing dramatically in America. The demographics of Hispanic and Latino Americans depict a population that is the second-largest ethnic group in the United States. 52 million people, or 16.7% of the national population is Spanish speaking, and increasing. This is something we cannot ignore as fellow Americans. If we are to form bonds, create business relations, and communicate with our potentially Hispanic neighbors, co-workers, employees and employers, America itself needs to learn Spanish.Collections
