dc.description.abstract | So my topic is at the moment entitled A choreographers Journey: how competitive dance changes the creativity and artistic vision of choreographers. This is something I'm personally connected with through years of working in the competitive dance field not only as a choreographer but as a backstage manager and judge for competitions. I'm intrigued by the game of competitions and how choreography is set for a judge's preference over an artistic display of work. Competitive dance is seen across many different forms such as competitive reality shows like Dance Moms and Dancing with the Stars, ballroom dance competitions, Studio based competitions Regional and National, High School dance team and college dance team competitions.. There has been many controversies across the competition field that has sparked questions and concerns of the integrity & appropriateness of competitions. | |
