For the senior project, I decided to create an autobiographical journal in visual form. Like a journalist would record an event with pen and notebook, I recorded my life with colored pencils and sketchbook. I mainly drew at the places I was familiar with such as a public transportation and Korean church on Sunday. Being an observer of my life and experimenting with the images with different art making process were both challenging and rewarding. In the course of two semesters, creating a body of works about my community allowed me to reflect on my past memories and the struggles of trying to find a sense of belonging as an Asian immigrant.
