dc.description.abstract | The role of Soccer Mom in Sarah DeLappe's The Wolves presents unique challenges to the director and performer developing it. This is due to her position as a one-scene character who enters only in the final minutes of the play, to perform a tragic monologue. The research project aims to analyze the character of the Soccer Mom in the context of other powerful female one-scene characters in contemporary theatre. Each of these characters has very unique effects on their individual plays, but they all share the commonality of being mothers, most of whom enter only in the last scene. | |
