This went from being a project that was a cabaret, to a report about the process of producing a cabaret, while getting my degree. This project will be the launch of my professional series of cabarets, entitled Red Stiletto Cabarets. These will run like a combination of a themed cabaret, dropped in the middle of a cocktail party with entertainment and various performers. I'm quite adept at throwing cocktail parties that leave people talking about them for years afterwards. So what better way to combine my talents of cocktail parties, with my talent for performing? The best party I ever went to was a themed cocktail party. So producing a cabaret in this line seems perfectly natural for me. This however, will be much bigger and more detailed than what I've done in the past. Description: Paper on the learning and planning process, culminating in a Covid-19 shutdown. Theme: Childhood dreams brought to life. Venue: The Dramatic Hall in Peekskill (or my couch) Style: Willy Wonka, Cabaret, the Cotton Club and Julie Taymor have a baby. - - Imagine. Marketing: From beginning to end, you are met with details that keep you engaged. When you buy your ticket online, some art will popup that's related to the event. When you get your email reminder, more art will greet you, as well as fun info will be available through links. Like where is the real yellow brick road? Examples of edible dishes. During the event, there will be tables with merchandise, as well as a table honoring the people who helped get the show off the ground. Event Itself: The event starts the moment the guests line up at the door. There will be a saxophonist playing jazz out on the street/sidewalk. As people walk in the building, they'll be guided by a tour host, who will introduce them to the stores in the building: Kurzhals Coffee, that's reminiscent of Central Perk in the tv show Friends - it's awesome! And Sweet Ascent - a candy store with old-fashioned candy. My intent is to partner with both businesses to provide free or discounted goodies for our guests. My intention is to get people to meander to those stores, buy a little something, then come back to the main event. What a way to make friends with other business owners. Once they've passed the stores, they'll continue toward the main double doors. During this brief walk, they'll be met by Pan, playing the piccolo,(that's what I'm thinking anyway) while introductions are played over the loudspeakers (similar to Willy Wonka). I may even pre-record the song Pure Imagination to play before the double doors are opened in grand fashion (two costumed actors opening them simultaneously). From there, they will make their way through the large ballroom, which will be appointed with plush and fun antiques for sitting. There will be fun-house mirrors, a henna tattoo artist, a bar upstairs and fixed/permanent seating upstairs. Not sure if I'm going to charge more for those yet. Onstage (in front of the curtains) will be my mic stand, with one of my stilettos hanging from the drink holder, which is attached to the stand. I'll run out in a shower cap, big pink robe and fuzzy bunny slippers (pretending this wasn't meant to happen), grab my stiletto and run back to the green room. The evening will start with a drag queen opening the event. (Hopefully Honey LaBronx, the Vegan Queen) She'll do her shtick, then introduce me and the band. - I don't have any other acts at the moment. However, I'm looking for some. Throughout the evening, there will be themed canapés, a couple of themed drinks (one will be the Fizzy Lizzy) and some fun, themed desserts.Accessibility Statement
