Background: Happiness is a complex emotion that people struggle to comprehend. Some chase it, some question it, all the while struggling to see why others can be at such peace with themselves. The secret is being content. Objective: The objective of this paper was to figure out what it means to be happy, and to find out if one needed to be content in order to sustain their peace of mind. Design and Method: The research methods consisted of gathering peer reviewed articles and documents by scholars and others alike well as conducting my own research methods to come to a conclusion on the matter. Due to pandemic issues, my project is limited to the amount of research I can conduct hands on, so I will have to conduct much of my research electronically rather than physically. Results: In conducting question and answer designed studies, I found that happiness is a universal belief, but if you are searching for it in the wrong places it will only be a temporary commodity. In order to sustain happiness, one needs to be content with their personal situation. Conclusion: Happiness is something that everyone believes in, but most would agree that it can be hard to find in the struggles of everyday life. It something that cannot be defined by any one definition and can’t be obtained any one way. The one variable that remains is one must have a sense of control if their mind to maintain that feeling of happiness and peace.Accessibility Statement
