Arts organizations exist in a perpetual state of vulnerability. The average non-profit has less than a month's worth of cash on hand at any given time, over half of their income comes from donations and federal grants, and they exist in a society where 71% of people view the arts as the least essential industry. At such a constant state of risk, times of crisis can uniquely damage arts organizations in ways that mostly cannot be recovered from. The purpose of this research is to inform arts non-profit organizations of the importance of crowdfunding as a tool for emergency funding, and it’s potential as it exists uniquely to nonprofit organizations.Accessibility Statement
