This project is based off the word “Quisqueya,” a name popularized at Dominican Republic’s first foundations in 1844, and which derives from the Taino vocabulary word meaning, “mother of all lands.” The changing of the ending “-eya” to “-ella” is intentional in expressing the intents of this paper to describe not only the experience of the Dominican mother, but of “ella,” or the Spanish word meaning “her” – the Dominican woman.Accessibility Statement
