Pareidolia Afoot

Abstract

For the longest time, I can recall being a little lost before starting a drawing. Not knowing what to draw, or feeling less creative than normal. The urge to create was there, but the idea is what took longer to come. Am I all out of ideas? Am I thinking too hard about what to make? Sometimes, it is easy to forget that the creativity we all have is still there even if in that moment we feel that it is not. In moments like these, I would take matters into my own hands and start off with something abstract. From there, I’d see what it looked like and build off of it to turn it into something I probably could never think of. This technique kept my brain active, feeling more creative than ever, and helped immensely with drawing crazy creatures and monsters. Now, I can utilize this tool to see weird beings in nature, pretty much anywhere. It’s fun, shareable, and something to keep the mind going. A lot of the time it happens by accident, but as time goes on and you see more things, the subliminal becomes visible. This is what I want to share with the world, the knowledge that I’ve gained from exploring this exercise.
