Art Museums in the United States continue to show the many ways of inequality in their institutions through their artists on the walls and employees in museums. Women have been underrepresented in museums in the United States due to gender bias in a male-driven society. In the art world dominated by men, women have been extensively excluded as a consequence. Museums do not provide many ways of inclusion such as through acquisitions, exhibitions, and positions of power in museums. There are many ways that these institutions continue to lack representation of female artists, higher education's lack of art history resources, women taking over positions of power, and how some female artists create interventions about museum inclusivity. Although there has been many achievements and progression throughout the centuries, there continues to be setbacks and lack of inclusion from institutions. The history of museums and art continue to leave out women and their achievements, these women deserve to be included and recognized for their progress in the arts.Accessibility Statement
