This paper aims to illustrate my thought process in conceptualizing and researching for my AR picture book project. I will start with a concise summary of my background, my history with the picture books of my childhood, and some insight into my already existing artwork. Getting into my research I will present a multitude of sources in favor of picture books as an invaluable tool for early childhood development in spatial awareness, and language. I will then present a series of sources determining whether or not electronic or augmented reality components are a benefit or a detriment in developing these skills. Finally, I wish to go a little more in depth about some of the leading pioneers in wordless picture book storytelling, as well as a couple of other artists who have inspired me.Accessibility Statement
