My senior project revolved around the concept of DIY (Do It Yourself) house shows in town of New Paltz NY. My fieldwork research was done from the Fall of 2019 to Spring 2020, up until the coronavirus pandemic hit. I focused on the hosts, bands and audience that were involved within these shows. Along with that came the main topics of inclusiveness and safety that go hand in hand with attending, running and putting together these gigs. I am an active musician myself and I play quite a bit in the town and touring around as well, so digging into this was very interesting for me. I definitely learned a lot about this community and found out just how special it really is. I hope to portray that to you and that you enjoy it.
