dc.description.abstract | Seeking Balance in an Unbalanced Place, a senior project in Theatre and Performance at SUNY Purchase, explores the challenges in attaining stability in an environment that is inherently unstable. As college students we are in a transitional phase in which we are seen as children, but are granted some of the agency of adulthood. This senior project details my personal journey towards balance through my performance of Prince Hal in Henry IV, Part 1, with the hopes of guiding others who are searching for a balance of their own. Part of this search for balance has lead to the creation of a theory/acting method that I call the Theatre of Truth, which draws from the pedagogies of Lecoq and stage combat to bring an actors performance to new levels by placing focus on movement and the body. | |
